

Jacob read music at the University of Liverpool, before winning a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studied composition with Julian Philips and Laurence Crane and conducting with Tim Redmond. He graduated with a merit and the Mary Ryan Award for Composition. Jacob's music has been performed at Wigmore Hall, Milton Court Concert Hall, the Courtauld Gallery, London Contemporary Dance School, the Bloomsbury Theatre, and he has received commissions from University College London, British Youth Music Theatre, Richmond Concert Society, Wildchild Productions and Oldham Theatre Workshop. His work with University College London received the Higher Education Fund from Research England, and he has been an invited speaker at the UCL Festival of Culture, The University of Leeds music colloquium and the University of York History and Theatre series.
